The Panther baseball team upset #2 seeded Rock Falls in the regional semi-final game Thursday in Morrison 9-5.
The Panthers play #1 seeded Morrison in Morrison Saturday at noon in the regional championship game. This is only the second time E-P has made a regional championship appearance. The Panthers debuted in 2006 with a 4-3 championship loss to Milledgeville-Polo.
E-P (17-12) comes in as the underdog, but they aren't intimidated by the Mustangs or their pitching ace, Jason Smith. They defeated Morrison (24-2)--with Smith pitching--earlier in the season 2-1.
Beau Kirkpatrick threw a complete 7-inning gem against the Rockets, with 12 strike-outs and allowing only four hits; Kirkpatrick also added two hits for the team, as did Eann Cox, Brandon Borkovec, and Anthony Lombardo. Borkovec and Cox each had two RBIs and Logan Miller, Kirkpatrick, Lombardo, and Dalton Boucher each had one RBI.
Good luck in the championship game, Panthers!
